Autopista Urbana Sur: An intelligent expressway
Currently ICA CU continues with the construction of Autopista Urbana Sur, which will obviate the demand for existing road infrastructure in the south of Mexico City. In its first phase, from San Jeronimo to Viaducto Tlalpan, will have a length of 11.3 km and is forecast an annual average daily traffic of 36,000 vehicles.
In August 2012 opened the first section of the project, with 8.5 kilometers of road, running 5km from San Jerónimo to Cerro de Zacatépetl and 3.5 km of inputs and outputs. This first section will reduce by half and shipments of users driving by.
This project is part of the Integrated Public Transport Roads called Autopista Urbana, which aims to provide an alternative road mobility in the shaft Queretaro-Mexico City-Toluca-Cuernavaca, reducing travel time and greenhouse gas emissions into
Autopista Urbana Sur connects the second floor of the current road that comes from San Antonio to San Jeronimo,
and will continue the elevated track, covering delegations Alvaro Obregon, Coyoacán and Tlalpan. Thus, Autopista Urbana Sur will be linked to the elevated tracks of the North and the Anillo Periférico system south-west of Mexico City.
It is an intelligent expressway with an automatic toll system and energy collection through solar cells.
